Intro
For many sports fans and enthusiasts, a visit to another complex, arena, or stadium can be an amazing experience. A chance to join in the sports action while in a different city, state, or even country. The action within a professional competition is second to none, but let's not overlook the art and architecture that goes into these arenas. From outdoor to indoor venues, the history to the modernization of the building, the arenas play a crucial role in the experience.
Many improvements have been added into the construction of these facilities, from aspects of safety to new technologies, a fan's interaction is taken into consideration through the entire development process. In the late 1950s, a scoreboard in New York had a face area of close to 4800 square feet, whereas the scoreboard in Seattle now has a LED board at approximately 11,500 square feet! These modern marvels have truly become an experience, where the game, itself, can even take a backseat to the surrounding features.
Let's take a look and explore these venues across the country. Check out some of these captured experiences, or submit a vote on your favorite chosen finalist. If you have visited an arena or would like to submit one of your photos to be considered in an upcoming vote, please visit the Submissions page!
How it works & how to play!
Think about some of your prior experiences, or maybe some locations you would like to visit someday. Is it a particular team, state, or complex? Take a look into your phone’s picture gallery, look back to some of those experiences, and even consider sharing them with others. Our team currently has a live poll going for a few venues and arenas among 4 major professional sports organizations. Share your thoughts and comments here and even look at prior poll winners as well.
If you are interested in participating in this voting, keep a few things in mind. First, images are considered based on current categories, which include Baseball, Basketball, Football, and Hockey. In some cases, the image may portray a team, venue, or city that you would like to visit someday - or the image could just be of a venue for a favorite team. You can even use this poll to check into these venues or search the city online for other things to do while in town, the options are endless and sometimes you just need an excuse to make the trip! Growing up one of my favorite things to watch was the waterfalls behind the Left Field fence in Kansas City…..where’s your 'waterfall'?
Be sure to check out some prior poll winners as well!
Have some cool or fun photos to share, or want to send over a comment?? Be sure to see the Submissions page to send an email to us!

Prior poll winners
Here are prior poll winners in the Baseball Category.
Tiger Stadium with a clean sweep! This Ballpark was home to the Detroit Tigers from 1912 through 1999. What many may not know is that the Detroit Lions also called Tiger Stadium home from 1938-1974. The Ballpark existed until its demolition in 2009, but history will live on forever. The site now is home to the Detroit Police Athletic League for youth sports and features a beautifully constructed complex used to this day. It is no surprise that Tiger Stadium swept this category as it has such great history and tradition and was the highlight of many childhoods throughout the park’s life.

The Palace of Auburn Hills stole the show in this poll! Formerly dubbed “The Palace”, this venue opened in 1988 and was the home of the Detroit Pistons for a short life of less than 20 years. The Palace was also home to the Detroit Shock (WNBA), the Detroit Vipers (IHL), and the Detroit Rockers (NPSL). In its time as home of the Pistons, the Palace saw 3 NBA Championships for the Detroit Pistons. The city of Auburn Hills held such beautiful landscapes, making the Palace and surrounding area such a special sight to see. No Shock that the Palace swept the Basketball category poll!

The Pontiac Silverdome for the win! Although no NFL Championships were won by the Detroit Lions at the Silverdome, the voters still decided that this complex was the winner of this category. The land is now home to a major online Logistics outfit but was the home of the Detroit Lions from 1975-2001. This structure was also home to many other interesting events such as WrestleMania III, World Cup soccer, and Super Bowl XVI. As with many other earlier built Stadiums with a dome, the Silverdome faced years of recurring roof damage and lack of improvement, thus prompting the Team to move homes after the 2001 season. It was eventually demolished in 2017 and broadcast on local television, but the memories lived on through the eyes of many. It’s no surprise that these photos won this poll in the Football category.

Here are prior poll winners in the Hockey Category.
JLA won the day….or at least this poll in the Hockey category. Joe Louis Arena was the home of the Detroit Red Wings from 1979 to 2017 and was located on Detroit’s beautiful waterfront. It remained one of Detroit’s most famous landmarks and was home to 4 NHL Championships. The inside wasn’t filled with fancy modernizations but was packed with history and the tradition of Hockey. “The Joe” is always regarded as to one of the greatest arenas ever built, not just because of the success of the Team that resided, but because of it’s inside, and outside, beauty. It’s truly no wonder or shock that “The Joe” stole this show and holds the crown of victory for this poll!

Congratulations to all prior winners and thank you to everyone who has submitted photos over the years.
Each year our team reviews many submissions from page visitors all over the world. It is truly amazing viewing the captured moments and memories within these submissions. So much life is embodied in each photo, and it shows much about the passion and enjoyment of everyone. Not all these images are of sports or games; some are more of a direct representation of how we have progressed in the world of architecture. Although much can be shown in the history of these structures, arenas, and buildings, it is important to at least remember and share these times through the eyes of a camera.
Our team appreciates your continued support and involvement by continuing to submit these memories and photos that have been captured over the years. If you have any suggestions or comments on new categories, please let us know by submitting a contact form. These captured moments will be gathered, and finalists will be internally decided prior to posting them to the page. Please check back in the future for a mass slideshow of all submissions as they are all memories worth sharing!
