The Detroit Tigers
The Magical 2006 Season
The Detroit Tigers 2006 season was one of the most exciting and memorable journeys in baseball that I have been able to witness. Although not winning the Central Division pennant that year, the team rallied off 95 wins and made remarkable run through the playoffs as well. The team manager, Jim Leyland, led the team to playoff series victories over the Yankees in the American League Division Series and over the Athletics in the American League Championship Series. This gave the team a bid and spot in the World Series! Although falling short in the World Series to the St. Louis Cardinals, the series was nothing less than magical, and exactly what this city needed to see from Detroit baseball.
